The Black Parade Is Dead!

The Black Parade Is Dead! is a CD/DVD from My Chemical Romance. It is the band's second live album, and was released on June 30, 2008.^[1] The DVD features My Chemical Romance's final performance as "The Black Parade" from the Palacio de los Deportes in Mexico City, Mexico on October 7, 2007 and as "My Chemical Romance" from Maxwell's in Hoboken, New Jersey, on October 24, 2007. Audio tracks of the Palacio de los Deportes performance are available on the CD,^[2] and they can be listened to on the band's official MySpace page. The album debuted at #22 on the Billboard 200, selling 23,000 copies.^{[citation needed]} In November 2008, the RIAA certified the album gold.^[3]

Promotion

The albums official Web site went online on May 5, 2008 and is open for orders of all the limited and standard editions. Once an order is made, the customer gains access to download three free DRM-free tracks: "Dead!", "Mama", "Welcome to the Black Parade". These tracks were recorded from the band's performance at the Palacio de los Deportes and they are on the album itself.^[2] Also, to tie in with the whole finality of the Black Parade's death, the Black Parade website has been changed to a graphic of a flatline

A limited-edition version with all of the album's contents, a death certificate and a mask designed by one of the band's members were also available, but are now sold out. This edition is housed in a coffin-shaped box. There are a total of five masks, one designed by each member, but only one is inside the packaging and is selected randomly.^[2]The masks can now be purchased separately or in a group of 4 on the band's website. The album is also available in explicit and clean editions.

In March 2009, the band made an announcement on their official website that they were releasing the encore set from the Mexico City show, in which they came out with Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge style clothing and the stage set up like the Revenge tour, and played nine songs from the album. It is available for pre-order, and it comes with a vest, and the videos are put onto a special bullet shaped USB flash drive.

I’m Not Okay (I Promise)

Budaya dan dinamika musik seringkali bisa menjadi modal bagi matahati kita untuk memahami zaman serta memahami trend yang berkembang di tengah-tengah masyarakat. Kebaruan suatu jenis syair atau musik juga bisa merefleksikan gejolak rasa dalam bathin dan hati mereka yang menggandrungi jenis musik tertentu. Karena baru-baru ini, kita sering melihat iklan konser My Chemical Romance yang manggung di Jakarta tanggal 31 Januari kemarin di Jakarta, maka tidak ada salahnya jika, matahati kita mencoba melihat fenomena musiknya tersebut.

Menjadi sangat menarik untuk sekedar melihat salah satu lagu My Chemical ROmance yang berjudul I’m Not Okay. Kita bisa melihat sisi menariknya apabila kita cermati isi lirik dan musiknya. Dari sisi lirik kita akan mendapati bahwa sejumlah ekspresi ketidak”ok”an dapat menjadi cermin kondisi kalangan muda sekarang yang sering terjebak dalam keadaan yang serba tidak enak.

Misalnya saja dalam kasus nyata bunuh diri lompat dari gedung yang belakangan ini marak terjadi, dalam lagu tersebut digambarkan patahnya kaki karena lompat dari lantai dua. Mengapa lompat karena tidak okay (tidak dalam keadaan nyaman), misalnya saja disebabkan foto porno yang diambil oleh sang pacar (the dirty looks). Semua itu membawa pada keadaan yang tidak okay.

Secara umum lagu tersebut menggambarkan tentang pemanfaatan manusia yang satu oleh manusia yang lain, sebuah fenomena klasik yang membuat ada pihak yang dirugikan. Namun kemudian kembali disegarkan dengan gaya musik menghentak namun cukup mendayu-dayu yang menyebabkan pendengarnya bisa larut dalam suasana yang abu-abu menuju gelap, apalagi gaya pemusiknya memang agak kegelapan dengan nuansa gothik yang misterius.

Kembali pada bagaimana matahati kita melihat persoalan kekinian. Diperlukan luasnya wawasan ketika matahati kita ingin memahami fenomena kegelisahan kaum muda sekarang, mulai dari kondisi real disekeliling kita seperti sekolah teman sepermainan sampai pada faktor-faktor luar yang mewarnai dinamika mentalitasnya, misalnya seperti lagu, film, buku bacaan, trend di internet atau majalah, koran, dll.

Kelengkapan informasi tersebut akan membuat matahati kita semakin awas dalam memahami gejala-gejala di sekitar kita, sehingga tidak akan ada istilah orang kuno tidak paham perkembangan zaman. Kita tidak perlu menyukai perubahan zaman, hanya diperlukan kepedulian untuk sekedar melihat bahwa zaman terus berubah.

Namun hal yang paling esensial dalam melihat dinamika zaman adalah bahwa janganlah membiarkan kita dimainkan oleh pusaran perubahan zaman sehingga kita akhirnya terserap dan cenderung untuk menjadi korban, sehingga akhirnya mengalami seuatu keadaan yang tidak okay.

Gerard Way

Gerard Arthur Way (lahir di Newark, New Jersey, 9 April 1977) adalah vokalis dan salah satu pendiri grup musik My Chemical Romance. Ia adalah kakak dari Mikey Way, basis grup musik tersebut.

Gerard lahir di daerah Newark, New Jersey, dimana kehidupan itu sulit untuk keluarganya. Nama orang tua Gerard adalah Donald dan Donna Way. Donald berasal dari Skotlandia dan Donna Lee dari Italia.

Waktu masa kecil, dia dan adiknya, Mikey, selalu dilarang bermain di luar karena daerah tempat tinggalnya sangat berbahaya. Dan di sekolah Gerard juga sering jadi korban lelucon anak-anak lain.

Jadi, Gerard mulai berkreasi dunia-dunia fantasi dan selanjutnya dia mulai menggambar-gambar karakter komik. Di tahun 1995 dia lulus di Belleville High School, dan selanjutnya dia ke New York City School of Fine Arts, dimana dia lulus di tahun 1999 dan mendapat degree Bachelor of Fine Arts.

Setelah itu, Gerard mencari perkerjaan di perusahaan komik dan akhirnya dia menjadi penggambar. Dia sendiri juga berkreasi komik yang bernama The Breakfast Monkey, tapi tidak diterima karena itu sudah terlalu mirip film kartun dari Cartoon Network.

Waktu tanggal 11 september 2001, Gerard lagi berada dekat di World Trade Center. Karena impact peristiwa itu sangat besar, dia memikir untuk formasi band sendiri. Dengan pertolongan adiknya Mikey, dia berhasil untuk mempunyai band sendiri, ya itulah My Chemical Romance.

Gerard suka meniru gaya Freddie Mercury dan Marilyn Manson ketika berada di panggung tetapi tidak pernah mengaku.

Pada tanggal 4 September 2007 akhirnya Gerard mengikat hubungan dengan personil band dari Mindless Self Indulgence,Lyn-Z.Mereka melakukan pernikahan tersebut dalam rangkaian tour Projekt Revolution.Pernikahan dilakukan dengan meminta tolong menjadi saksi dari promotor.Acara itu tanpa pesta yang meriah,hanya ada botol minuman dan makanan kecil namun mereka semua sangat bahagia.
